Review of the day

No joy again today, which was a little disappointing, as I had quite high hopes for both selections…

First up was Pearlysteps – and I have to admit to being a little perturbed by the late market drift on him…
An hour or so after I put him up, he had halved in price and was a tight 8/1 shot in the market.
Moments before the off, he was out to 25 on Betfair !
As is so often the case, the market proved prophetic…
He travelled really nicely on the inside – and was still in with every chance, rounding the home turn.
However, it would appear there was little left in the tank at that point, and he was then allowed to come home in his own time.
It struck me as a very eye-catching run – and you can expect him to be tipped again very soon (as early as next Saturday, wouldn’t surprise me !!)

Next it was the turn of Golden Chieftain  - who was very popular in the market…
Tipped at 8/1, he went off 4/1 second favourite – but ran an odd sort of a race.
In the front rank front the off, he was tapped for toe when pace quickened down the back straight and he was soon well adrift of the leaders.
However, he battled on down the home straight and nearly managed to grab second place, on the line.
As it was, he had to settle for third, behind the very easy winner, Rouge et Blanc.
It really does go to show, just how much that one had in hand, earlier in the week…

So, a disappointing week comes to an end.
After briefly threatening a fight back on Thursday and Friday, I’ve allowed things to slip again over the past couple of days.
Still, I must look at he bigger picture – and we are still doing OK.
In fact, if Jack the Gent had hung on, we’d be in profit this month !
Of course he didn’t  - and therefore we are not. However, rest assured, I will be doing my best to right that wrong over the next 7 days (and beyond, if necessary !!)

TVB.
