Race review

There’s not a lot to be said about this afternoon’s tip really…

I was hoping that the race would turn into a bit of a burn up – but it didn’t…
Brave Spartacus made the running – but it was little more than an honest gallop, with Arctic Ben and Shangani, happily tucked in behind.
Arctic Ben took up the running with a circuit to go – but even then, he and Brave Spartacus didn’t really duel, as I might have hoped…
Having sat in behind the lead for most of the race, Shangani took up the running round the home turn – and came home relatively comfortably. In the process, becoming yet another easy winner for Venetia Williams…
Whilst this was all going on up front, French Ties sat out the back and gradually crept in to the race.
He was in fifth place rounding the home turn and well enough position to make a challenge if he was good enough – but alas, he wasn’t…
He weakened between the final two fences and eventually finished seventh.
Simply, I think the race was a bit too hot for him…
He’ll be dropped a few pounds for the run – and will be a little straighter as a result of it.
On decent ground, he still may be able to strike before the season draws to a close…
